Territories of the Russian Empire in the early 20th century

The Russian Empire at the beginning of the 20th century encompassed a vast territory that spanned multiple continents. Here are some of the territories that were part of the Russian Empire during that time:

1. European Russia: European Russia was the core region of the Russian Empire. It included territories such as Moscow, St. Petersburg, and other major cities. European Russia extended from the Baltic Sea in the west to the Ural Mountains in the east.

2. Siberia: Siberia was a vast region in eastern Russia that stretched from the Ural Mountains to the Pacific Ocean. It was known for its harsh climate and vast expanses of wilderness.

3. Central Asia: Central Asia, including present-day Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, and Kyrgyzstan, was part of the Russian Empire. The empire expanded into this region during the 19th century.

4. Caucasus: The Caucasus region, which includes present-day Georgia, Armenia, and Azerbaijan, was also part of the Russian Empire. The empire gained control over this region through a series of wars and treaties.

5. Baltic States: The Baltic States of Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania were part of the Russian Empire at the beginning of the 20th century. They were acquired by Russia during the 18th and 19th centuries.

6. Poland: Poland was divided between Russia, Prussia (later Germany), and Austria in the late 18th century. The Russian-controlled part of Poland was known as the Kingdom of Poland and was part of the Russian Empire.

7. Finland: Finland was a grand duchy within the Russian Empire. It had a degree of autonomy but was ultimately under Russian control.

8. Alaska: Alaska, which is now part of the United States, was also part of the Russian Empire until it was sold to the United States in 1867.

These are just some of the territories that comprised the Russian Empire at the beginning of the 20th century. The empire was vast and diverse, encompassing a wide range of cultures, languages, and geographic regions.
