Konstantyn Ostrozkyi worked to protect the interests of three Eastern Slavic peoples - Ukrainians, Belarusians, and Russians. He supported the development of the Ukrainian language and culture. Ostrozkyi established the Ostroh Academy in 1576, one of the first higher education institutions in Eastern Europe. The Academy taught in Church Slavonic, Polish, and Latin.
