Справа в тому,що український народ знаходився на територіях двох ворожих сторін - Російської та Австро-Угорської Імперій, які між собою воювали. Східна та центральна частина сучасної України належала першій державі, західна ж другій. Кожна з сторін втягувала у свою війну українців і вони боролися між собою за інтереси влади. Ці події також звуть "братовбивчою війною". Деякі з українців з кожного боку йшли воювати за об'єднання усіх українських земель під одним прапором. Наприклад, була концепція об'єднання українських земель під Австро-Угорщиною з правами автономії. Також була концепція повного об'єднання українських земель під Росією, як великою державою для російських народів. У результаті, нічого з цього виконано не було. Ураховуючи ці всі події треба чітко пам'ятати та розуміти цілі народу, а не влади. Не піддаватися пропаганді та відстоювати власні інтереси. Обдумувати усе та аналізувати, щоб не бути обдуреним.
