Economic Alliances and Organizations

When it comes to economic alliances and organizations, there are several notable ones around the world. Here are some examples:

1. NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization): NATO is a military alliance composed of 30 member countries, primarily from North America and Europe. While its primary focus is on defense and security, it also has economic implications as member countries often cooperate on economic matters.

2. BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa): BRICS is an acronym for an association of five major emerging national economies. It includes Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa. While BRICS is primarily an economic alliance, it also has political and strategic implications.

3. EU (European Union): The European Union is a political and economic union of 27 member countries in Europe. It aims to promote economic and political integration among its members, with a single market and a common currency (the Euro) in many of its member states.

4. ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations): ASEAN is a regional intergovernmental organization comprising ten Southeast Asian countries. It aims to promote economic growth, social progress, and cultural development in the region through regional cooperation.

5. NAFTA (North American Free Trade Agreement): NAFTA was an agreement signed by Canada, Mexico, and the United States, creating a trilateral trade bloc in North America. However, it was replaced by the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) in 2020.

6. Mercosur (Southern Common Market): Mercosur is a regional trade bloc in South America, comprising Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay, and Uruguay. Its primary goal is to promote free trade and economic integration among its member countries.

7. OPEC (Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries): OPEC is an intergovernmental organization consisting of 13 oil-exporting countries. It aims to coordinate and unify the petroleum policies of its member countries to ensure stable oil markets and secure fair returns for oil producers.

8. WTO (World Trade Organization): The WTO is an international organization that deals with global rules of trade between nations. It provides a framework for negotiating and formalizing trade agreements and resolving trade disputes.

Please note that this is not an exhaustive list, and there are other economic alliances and organizations around the world. The examples provided above should give you a good starting point for your research.
