Переселение чужеземных животных также нередко сказывалось отрицательно и совершенно преобразило некоторые области. Так, печальную известность приобрели последствия ввоза в Австралию дикого кролика. Лишь с помощью вируса миксоматоза там удалось временно взять верх над заполонившими материк полчищами кроликов. Однако до сих пор не установлено, какие последствия для других живых существ может иметь ввоз в страну этого заболевания.
В Австралию была завезена и европейская лисица, когда там задумали устраивать лисьи охоты. Однако рыжие плутовки, прижившись, сами начали охотиться на мелких сумчатых и кое-где почти полностью истребили их.
