Начнем с того, что Африка омывается Атлантическим океаном с Запада и Индийским с Востока. Также, Африку омывают Красное и Средиземноморские моря. Вдоль береговой линии континента протекают Сомалийское и Мозамбикское течения с Востока; Канарское, Гвинейское, Ангольское и Бенгальское течения с Запада.

В северной части Африки почти отсутствуют водоемы, кроме крупнейшей реки Нил, реки Нигер и озера Чад. В Южной же части мы наблюдаем крупнейшие озера: Танганьика, Виктория и Ньяса. Крупнейшие реки Южной части: Конго, Лимпопо, Замбези.
