Описание египетских пирамид
The Egyptian pyramids are an impressive monument to the power of ancient pharaohs as well as to the toil of numerous slaves. It took 20 years and one hundred thousand workers to build the grandest mausoleum in world history the Great Pyramid of Cheops (Khufu) at Giza.It is the oldest of Seven Wonders of the Ancient World and the only one survived to our days. Khufu’s Pyramid stands 140 meters tall and can be seen from a far distance. Inside it there are three burial chambers: the king’s chamber, the queen’s chamber and the underground chamber.
The Great Pyramid is surrounded by several smaller pyramids. They served as tombs for pharaohs and their close relatives.
The pyramid complex at Giza is guarded by the Sphinx carved from limestone. It has the head of a man and the body of a lion. The bottom part of the monument is buried under the sands.

For almost 30 centuries—from its unification around 3100 B.C. to its conquest by Alexander the Great in 332 B.C.—ancient Egypt was the preeminent civilization in the Mediterranean world. From the great pyramids of the Old Kingdom through the military conquests of the New Kingdom, Egypt’s majesty has long entranced archaeologists and historians and created a vibrant field of study all its own: Egyptology. The main sources of information about ancient Egypt are the many monuments, objects and artifacts that have been recovered from archaeological sites, covered with hieroglyphs that have only recently been deciphered. The picture that emerges is of a culture with few equals in the beauty of its art, the accomplishment of its architecture or the richness of its religious traditions.

Ancient Egyptians were a civilization that flourished along the banks of the Nile River in northeastern Africa for over three thousand years. They are known for their rich history, advanced culture, and impressive achievements in various fields.

One of the most striking aspects of ancient Egyptian civilization was their religious beliefs. They worshipped a pantheon of gods and goddesses, with each deity representing different aspects of life and nature. The pharaoh, who was the ruler of Egypt, was considered a divine figure and the intermediary between the gods and the people.

The ancient Egyptians also had a highly structured society. At the top of the social hierarchy was the pharaoh, followed by the nobility, priests, and scribes. Below them were the craftsmen, farmers, and laborers. Slavery was also prevalent in ancient Egypt, with slaves being used for various tasks.

The Egyptians were known for their monumental architecture, particularly the construction of pyramids. These massive structures were built as tombs for the pharaohs and were designed to ensure their safe passage into the afterlife. The Great Pyramid of Giza, built for Pharaoh Khufu, is one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World and is still standing today.

In addition to pyramids, the ancient Egyptians also built temples, palaces, and other architectural marvels. They were skilled in engineering and used advanced techniques to construct these impressive structures.

The Egyptians were also pioneers in the field of medicine. They had a comprehensive understanding of the human body and developed various medical treatments and surgical procedures. They even had specialized doctors for different parts of the body.

Ancient Egyptian society was also known for its advancements in writing and literature. They developed one of the earliest writing systems, known as hieroglyphics, which used pictorial symbols to represent words and sounds. This system was used for religious texts, historical records, and everyday communication.

The ancient Egyptians also had a strong belief in the afterlife. They believed in the concept of judgment after death, where the heart of the deceased was weighed against the feather of Ma'at, the goddess of truth and justice. If the heart was lighter than the feather, the person would enter the blissful afterlife, but if it was heavier, they would face eternal punishment.

Overall, the ancient Egyptians left behind a rich legacy of culture, art, architecture, and knowledge. Their civilization continues to fascinate and inspire people around the world, offering valuable insights into the human experience and the wonders of ancient times.
