It was Halloween night so my sisters and I decided to go trick-or-treating. We were very excited. By the time we got to the last house in the street, it was very late and we were tired.The house looked empty, but we knoked anyway. The door opened on its own.Although we were scared, we decided to go in and have a look. Suddenly,we heard a loud noise and a huge creature jumped out in front of us. "Don't be afraid, it's just an owl," said a voice from behind us. We turned around and saw an old lady at the bottom of the strairs.She rushed over and introduced herself. "Hello, I'm Mrs Shade. Let me give you some treats,you naughty little ghosts!" When we finally got home, our Mum was very worried. "Where were you?" she shouted,the moment we walked in. "Don't worry,mum.We were at Mrs Shade's house, you know the big one at the end of the street. She gave us treats and..." Mum looked puzzled. "What on earth are you talking about?" she said."Mrs Shade died ten years ago!"

Excitement bubbled within us as we journeyed through the streets, but as the night wore on and we reached the last house, exhaustion began to take its toll. The house appeared deserted, yet we decided to knock on the door, only to find it creak open on its own accord.

Despite our trepidation, we ventured inside, only to be startled by a sudden, thunderous noise followed by the appearance of an imposing figure. Our hearts raced until a comforting voice broke the tension, "Don't be afraid, it's just an owl," it said from behind us. Turning, we discovered an elderly lady at the foot of the stairs, who swiftly introduced herself as Mrs. Shade. She warmly offered us treats, dispelling our initial fear.

Upon returning home, we were met with our mother's frantic worry. "Where were you?" she exclaimed as we entered. Eager to reassure her, we recounted our encounter with Mrs. Shade, explaining how she had kindly given us treats. To our bewilderment, our mother's face twisted in confusion. "What on earth are you talking about?" she questioned. "Mrs. Shade died ten years ago!"

The revelation sent shivers down our spines, leaving us to ponder the mysterious encounter we had just experienced on that eerie Halloween night.
