Maidan Nezalezhnosti is the central square of Kyiv, the capital city of Ukraine. It is one of the main squares in the city, and it is located on Khreshchatyk Street in the Shevchenko Raion. The square has been known by many different names, but it is often called simply Maidan, which means "square" in Ukrainian. The square contains the Independence Monument, a symbol of Ukraine's sovereignty.

Maidan Nezalezhnosti has been the site of many political rallies and protests since the start of Ukraine's independence movement in 1990. The most famous of these were the 1990 student Revolution on Granite, the 2001 Ukraine without Kuchma, the 2004 Orange Revolution and the 2013-14 Euromaidan. These events showed the desire of many Ukrainians to join the European Union and to resist Russian influence. The Euromaidan protests, in particular, led to the ousting of President Viktor Yanukovych and the subsequent Russian invasion of Crimea and eastern Ukraine in 2022.

Maidan Nezalezhnosti is also a place for cultural and social events, such as concerts, festivals, fairs and celebrations.
