1 The Kremlin

The Moscow Kremlin was built in 1482−1495. It is situated on the high left bank of the Moskva River, where the river Neglinnaya flows into it. 

Just as the White House in Washington, the Kremlin in Moscow is the official residence of the President of the Russian Federation. 

If you look at the Kremlin’s plan, you will see that it is an irregular triangle with the area of 27.5 hectares. 

From the south of the Kremlin there is the Moskva River, in the northwest there is Alexander Gardens, and in the east there is Red Square.

The present red walls and towers of the Kremlin were built in 1485−1516. At the top the wall is decorated with the teeth in the form of a swallow’s tail. On the outer side the wall is smooth and the inner side of the wall is framed with arched recesses for reinforcement and facilitating the construction. In the Kremlin there are five palaces and four cathedrals. 

Along the walls there are twenty towers. The tallest tower is the Troitskaya Tower. New Year is traditionally greeted by the Russians with the chimes of the Spasskaya Tower. 

More than 100 Soviet heroes were buried by the Kremlin Wall. 

The word «Kremlin» is often used to indicate the Russian government.

Saint Basil’s Cathedral

Saint Basil’s Cathedral is located in Red Square. This Orthodox church is a world-famous landmark. The church was built in the XVI century by order of Ivan the Terrible. There are 11 domes in Saint Basil’s Cathedral. Its height is 65 metres. 

In the XX century the church was open for public as a museum. It is one of the most recognizable tourist attractions. Saint Basil’s Cathedral is included in the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites. 

There are many theaters, monuments, parks, squares and theaters in Moscow. For example, there are more than 150 theaters that produce shows of various genres (the Taganka Theater, Lenkom Theatre, Sovremennik Theater)

1. Московский Кремль и Красная площадь

Московский Кремль и Красная площадь являются самыми известными и посещаемыми достопримечательностями Москвы. Башни Кремля, украшенные курантами и пятиконечными звездами-рубинами, считаются символом мегаполиса. Строительство Кремля, как объекта для обороны города, началось еще в 12 веке. Если вы приезжаете в Москву в дни государственных праздников, непременно приезжайте на Красную площадь. Тут организуются культурно-массовые гулянья, всевозможные ярмарки и торжественные события .

2. Храм Василия Блаженного

Постройка храмового комплекса началась в честь взятия Казани по приказанию И. Грозного. Изначально фасадная часть была выполнена в бело-красных цветах, а купол был позолоченным. Однако после пожара, произошедшего в 13 веке, храм «обзавелся» нынешними восхитительными многоцветными куполами .

Эти две достопримечательности представляют разные аспекты истории и культуры Москвы. Московский Кремль и Красная площадь - это символ мощи и величия России, а Храм Василия Блаженного - это красивый храм, который отражает архитектурные достижения древнерусского искусства.
