1) Ann has to leave school early tomorrow. She has a dentist appointment after school.

2) If Ben gets permission from his parents, he may study in France next year.

3) Kate should have studied a lot for the history exam. He got very high mark.

4) Students mustn’t run in the school corridors. It’s against the rules.

5) You can raise your hand and wait before you ask a question.

You MUST raise your hand

А можно интерпретировать как if you want to ask smth, you can raise your hand

Let's analyze each sentence and choose the appropriate word (may/has to, may/must, should have/must have, mustn’t/needn’t, can/must) to complete the sentence correctly:

  1. Ann may/has to leave school early tomorrow. She has a dentist appointment after school.
  • In this sentence, "has to" is the correct choice because Ann has an obligation to leave school early due to her dentist appointment.

Answer: Ann has to leave school early tomorrow. She has a dentist appointment after school.

  1. If Ben gets permission from his parents, he may/ must study in France next year.
  • The correct choice here is "may" because it indicates the possibility of studying in France, contingent upon getting permission from his parents.

Answer: If Ben gets permission from his parents, he may study in France next year.

  1. Kate should have/ must have studied a lot for the history exam. He got a very high mark.
  • The correct choice is "must have" because it indicates that it's highly likely that Kate studied a lot for the history exam, considering she got a very high mark.

Answer: Kate must have studied a lot for the history exam. She got a very high mark.

  1. Students mustn’t/ needn’t run in the school corridors. It’s against the rules.
  • The correct choice here is "mustn’t" because it indicates that running in the school corridors is prohibited and against the rules.

Answer: Students mustn’t run in the school corridors. It’s against the rules.

  1. You can/ must raise your hand and wait before you ask a question.
  • The correct choice here is "can" because it indicates that raising your hand and waiting before asking a question is allowed, but not mandatory.

Answer: You can raise your hand and wait before you ask a question.
