Tut was a gum-collector, lookin for gum in the jungle. To do this, he had to climb the trees. On this particular day, he got to the top of one tree and something caught his eye. He looked out across the trees and saw – the tops of some old buildings. Tut didn’t really know what he had seen but he knew it was somethig special. He ran to tell the local governor, and together they walked into the jungle. There they found Tikal, the city that the Mayans had bult, many hundreds of years before. The two men saw temples and pyramids, squares and houses, and palaces where kings had lived when the Mayan people ruled the region. For a long time before that day, local people had known that somewhere in the jungle there was an old Mayan city, but no one had seen it for centuries. Between 200 and 900 AD, the city of Tikal had been the centre of Mayan civilisation i the region, but then the Mayans left it – nobody knows why! After 1000 AD, the jungle began to cover it and people forgot that it was there. Seven years before Tut looked out from the trees, two British explorers had gone to Guetamala and had written a report about Mayan treasures in the jungle – but they hadn’t mentioned Tikal. Even earlier than this, local Indians had told European travellers about a great city hidden in the trees, but no one had listen to them. Now the lost city had been found again, and archaelodists went there immadiately to see it.

Для этого ему пришлось залесть на дерево, когда он залез то увидел верхушки каких-  то зданий. Он не знал что это но это точно что - то интересное. Татт пошел рассказать все местному губернатору, после они вместе пошли в джунгли. Там они нашли Тикаль  в котором когда-то давно жили майя. Они увидели храмы, дворцы, пирамиды, и замки где жили цари майя. Давным давно люди знали что в джунглях есть город майя, но никто его не видел. Между 200 -900 годами  нашей эры  в этом городе обитали майя, но потом они покинули его по непонятной причине . после 1000 года нашей эры джунгли начаои скрывать Тикаль  и люди забыли о нем. За семь лет до того как Татт  нашел город  , в джунгли отправлялись британские ученые на исследования сокровищ майя ,но в отчете не слова о Тикале, городе цивелизации майя. Раньше индейцы рассказывали путешественникам о большом городе в деревья. Теперь когда город снова найден  ученые поехали туда чтобы увидеть и  изучить его
