1) My favourite types of TV programmes are quiz shows and sitcoms.
2) I don’t watch TV every day, because I prefer surfing the Internet. I usually watch TV two-three times a week for about 2 hours.
3) I would read interesting books, surf the Net, listen to music or hang out with my friends. There are a lot of things to do without TV, so I definitely wouldn’t be bored.
4) I think TV in my country is quite good. There are a lot of various types of programmes and there are a lot of channels to choose from.
5) We have got a lot of channels in my country but the most popular ones are Channel 1 and Russia 1.
6) The advantages of watching TV is that television is an easy and cheap source of entertainment and it helps us to stay informed and up-to-date with breaking news around the world. Besides, some TV channels offer educational programmes.
There are also disadvantages. Firstly, there are TV programmes and shows that encourage violent behaviour or lead to having nightmares. Secondly, watching too much television is not good for our health — it can lead to poor eyesight, obesity, sleep difficulties and behaviour problems. Thirdly, it's a waste of time. It's so much better to spend this time on reading, doing some sport or some hobby.

a) The answer to this question will vary among individuals in the small group. Some may like programmes made in Ukraine, while others may not. It would be interesting to hear the reasons behind their preferences and whether they enjoy specific genres or shows from Ukraine.
b) Again, the answers to this question will depend on each individual's exposure to and familiarity with BBC World, CNN, MTV, Viva, or Star TV. Participants can discuss their opinions on these channels, such as whether they find them informative, entertaining, or engaging. Additionally, they can share their thoughts on the language in which these channels broadcast, which is typically English.
c) Participants can discuss other global channels they watch and whether they enjoy them. Examples could include channels like National Geographic, Discovery Channel, or HBO. Additionally, they can discuss whether they listen to any foreign radio stations and which ones. This can lead to a conversation about the languages used by these global broadcasters, which can vary depending on the country and target audience.
d) Satellite TV can be helpful for language learners in several ways. Firstly, it provides access to a wide range of international channels, allowing learners to immerse themselves in the language they are studying. By watching and listening to programs in the target language, learners can improve their listening and comprehension skills. Additionally, satellite TV often provides subtitles or closed captions, which can assist learners in understanding the content. Moreover, exposure to different accents and dialects through satellite TV can help learners become more accustomed to the variations in the language. Finally, satellite TV can also offer educational programs specifically designed for language learners, providing them with structured language lessons and exercises.
