Ivan Marchuk is a People's Artist of Ukraine, a laureate of the Taras Shevchenko National Prize of Ukraine, an honorary citizen of the cities of Kyiv and Ternopil, a member of the Golden Guild of the Roman Academy of Contemporary Art. In 2007, he was included in the rating of "100 most outstanding geniuses of our time", which was compiled by the British newspaper The Daily Telegraph.The artist was born on May 12, 1936 in the village of Moskalivka, Ternopil region of Ukraine, in the family of a well-known weaver throughout the region.
