He lived in Cornwall on the tip of England and terrified the locals, stealing sheep and even eating . One day, though, he fell in love with a young girl called Agnes and asked her to marry him. Agnes didn't want to, so she tried to think of a way to get rid of him for good. She asked him to do dangerous things to win her love but nothing worked, she had one last idea. She asked him so to fill up a hole in a nearby cliff with his blood. Bolster agreed After all, how much giant's blood does it take to fill a small hole? The hole, though, led down into the sea. All his blood ran into the sea and that was the end of the evil giant. This is a very popular legend in Cornwall. Locals say you can still see a red stain on the cliffs at Chapel Porth!​

Bolster's misdeeds included stealing sheep and even consuming them as his meal. However, his life took an unexpected turn when he fell deeply in love with a young girl named Agnes and proposed to her.

Agnes, feeling quite reluctant about marrying the giant, devised a plan to rid herself of his presence permanently. She concocted a series of dangerous tasks, hoping that Bolster would fail and give up his pursuit of her love. Yet, no matter what challenges were presented, the giant successfully completed each one, unwavering in his determination.

As a final attempt, Agnes proposed a task that seemed harmless enough. She asked Bolster to fill a hole in a nearby cliff with his own blood, under the pretense of proving his love for her. Bolster, not suspecting any harm, agreed without hesitation. After all, he presumed that the blood of a giant would easily suffice to fill a small crevice.

Unfortunately for Bolster, this seemingly innocent hole was a treacherous trap leading directly into the sea. As he poured his blood into the hole, it quickly drained into the vast depths of the ocean. The giant's life force ebbed away with his blood, and thus came the end of the malevolent Bolster.

To this day, the legend of Bolster and his ill-fated love for Agnes remains popular in Cornwall. Local tales recount that a red stain, believed to be the remnants of Bolster's blood, can still be seen on the cliffs at Chapel Porth, serving as a lasting testament to the extraordinary tale.
