1) Односложные прилагательные: добавляем суффиксы –er и –est:

2) Односложные прилагательные, оканчивающиеся на букву e – добавляем только –r и –st:
   wise – wiser – the wisest  

3) Односложные прилагательные, оканчивающиеся на согласную, перед которой идёт короткая гласная – последняя буква удваиваем:

4) Двусложные прилагательные, оканчивающиеся на букву y – y меняем на i, затем также добавляем суффиксы –er и –est:
