A pig is a farm animal. It's pink. It grunts. Pigs like lying in mud. They eat both plants and other animals. Pigs have an excellent sense of smell. People farm pigs for meat such as pork, bacon and ham. Also pigs can be wild - they are called boars. In some areas of the world, wild boars are the main source of food for tigers. There are around 2 billion pigs in the world.

Once upon a time, there was a pig named Wilbur. He lived on a farm with his best friend, a little girl named Fern.

Wilbur was a happy pig, but one day he overheard the farmer saying that he was going to kill him because he was not growing as fast as the other pigs. Wilbur was terrified and didn't want to die.

Fern didn't want her friend to die either, so she convinced her father to let her take care of Wilbur. She promised to feed him, take him for walks, and make sure he was healthy.

Under Fern's care, Wilbur thrived. He grew bigger and stronger, and he even made new friends with the other animals on the farm, like the wise old sheep and the talkative geese.

But Wilbur's happy life was threatened again when he learned that he would soon be sent to the county fair to be judged and possibly sold to someone else. Wilbur was afraid that he would never see his friends on the farm again.

Luckily, Wilbur had a new friend, a spider named Charlotte. Charlotte was wise and kind, and she promised to help Wilbur. She spun webs in the barn that read "Some Pig" and "Terrific," which caught the attention of the judges at the county fair. They were amazed by Wilbur and decided to give him a special award.

Thanks to Charlotte's clever plan, Wilbur was saved from being sold and was able to return home to the farm. He knew that he had many friends who loved him and would always be there for him.
