I think you might be referring to Alexander Sergeyevich Griboyedov. Griboyedov was indeed a fascinating and multi-talented figure in 19th-century Russia. He is perhaps best known for his play "Woe from Wit" (also translated as "Misfortune from Intelligence"), which is considered a masterpiece of Russian literature and a classic of the Russian stage.
In addition to his literary accomplishments, Griboyedov was also a diplomat, serving as a secretary in the Russian embassy in Tehran and later as ambassador to Georgia. He was known for his intelligence, wit, and charm, and was a popular figure in Russian high society.
Sadly, Griboyedov's life was cut short when he was killed in the Tehran massacre of 1829. A violent mob attacked the Russian embassy in Tehran, killing Griboyedov and other members of the diplomatic mission. Despite his short life, Griboyedov's literary and diplomatic legacy has endured, and he remains a revered figure in Russian history and culture.
