It contains various enzymes and organelles involved in processes such as glycolysis, protein synthesis, and lipid metabolism.

3. Support and Shape Maintenance: The cytoplasm provides structural support to the cell and helps maintain its shape. It contains a network of protein filaments called the cytoskeleton, which gives the cell its shape and allows for cellular movement.
4. Cellular Respiration: The cytoplasm is involved in cellular respiration, the process by which cells generate energy in the form of ATP. Glycolysis, the first step of cellular respiration, takes place in the cytoplasm.
